Recently, we shared the debut of the inventive and interactive Project Decor, an online playground of interior design offering free tools to refresh or redo a home, taking into consideration everything from color clashes to spatial dimensions.
Now, another DIY aid has emerged to help those who need to scratch the redecorating itch without the aid of a professional designer. The Elaine Ryan Home Decorating Kit contains an array of peel-and-stick furniture icons, a layout-planning room grid, color matching bars, and “tips interior designers don’t want you to know.”
Per its press release, “the Elaine Ryan Home Decorating Kit simplifies the design process and provides insider tips along the way to ensure the home you create reflects your personality and lifestyle.” The mother-daughter collaboration (involving Ryan’s daughter, Lauren) is available for $59.95 through Ryan’s website at www.ElaineRyan.com.

You had me until you hit me with the price tag. Ouch. Seems a tad high? Have you used this personally and would you vouch for it?
Hi Penny! We haven’t tried the kit – just thought it was an interesting concept. Project Decor, however — the website we mentioned (and linked to, in case you’re interested) in the first paragraph — is free; I’ve test-driven it and think it’s great.
