Remodeled 1960’s two-story house overlooking Lake Washington

February 4, 2011 by

Remodeled by architecture firm Coup 15, this simple 1960’s two-story house was totally renovated with additional and new rooflines, with strong horizontal and vertical planes defining each interior living space.

Originally just a one-story property, an upper floor was added for the master bedroom suite, with an outside balcony for enjoying the majestic views of Lake Washington. The original carport was renovated to make space for the living, dining and kitchen areas.

The interior design is warm and rustic with a very contemporary feel, with soft browns, greys and charcoals used in the furniture and decorating. Materials from the original build – wide plank cedar siding, oak flooring and gypsum wallboard – were kept and integrated with fiber-cement siding and aluminum windows.
