leaf house – imaginative tropical beach house in Brazil

December 16, 2010 by

This leaf-shaped tropical beach house is located near Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. This Brazilian dream house is designed by Mareines and Patalano Arquitetura, an imaginative luxury beach home with outstanding architecture, inspired by Brazil’s Indian architecture.

The roof, when viewed from a bird’s eye view, looks like the roof of a palm tree. The roof, which is covered in small reforestation wood tiles, acts as a large protective leaf, shading its inhabitants from the hot sun. The garden backs straight onto the white sandy beach, with a long jetty in the crystal clear waters for access to the property from the sea.

The interior style is designed with delicacy and warm aesthetics. All surfaces and finishes, except for the glass and pre-oxidized copper, are from natural elements. Grey stone tiles, bamboo meshes, local wood from remanagement forests, earthy flooring and reused wood from old electricity posts, are all incorporated.

The architect worked closely with the client to better understand the idea of a modern tropical beach house as a means to enhance the interaction between humans and nature.
