kit 24 – colorful and retro innovative mobile home

January 24, 2011 by

A high art interior concept, Kit 24 is designed by Karim Rashid, an innovative mobile home of the future, made from 24 facets of aluminum panels, a construction-friendly structure which can easily be assembled in 24 hours.

The house is based on the 24-hour daily cycle – from the living area and work space on the ground floor, to the sleeping quarters on the second level. All the furniture, accessories and custom flooring – all of which are minimalist and futuristic – is made from plastic, and has been specially designed by Karim Rashid.

The trademark bold colors of Rashid’s style come alive in a mixture of orange, green, pink and yellow. The top floor ceiling has a fantastic retro style fresco over the bed, with imaginative and colorful shapes and patterns. The walls have thick stripes, which look like pieces of liquorice, and surround the interior in an almost kaleidoscopic fashion.

A green glass staircase in the center of the home leads up to the bathroom and bedroom, where the flooring is a rich purple and the orange bath and sanitaryware are particularly vibrant in color. It’s these expressive color tones and skillful design practices which make Kit 24 a home for the future.
