The corporate event and wedding planner behind frugal-chic blog “Salvage Dior,” a woman who simply goes by the online moniker “Kate” (and sometimes shares the digital spotlight with her husband, cheekily referred to as “Mr. Dior”) apparently knows a thing or two about coming up with something brilliant in a pinch.
To wit, her latest project: doormat wall art.
No, that wasn’t a typo. “Decorating in these hard economic times can be difficult for many of us,” she explains. That’s why her inventive use of black rubber doormats as wall art make such perfect sense; all the transformation took was a bit of white paint.
What started as a single-piece project turned into an idea for an entire wall, and ultimately gave Kate inspiration for not one, but two successive posts on her popular website.
The end result is an array of what appear to be ornate pieces of distressed metalwork. For those interested in a piece, Kate can be contacted through her site or, for West Coast fans, her creative wares can also be found at Country Roads Antiques in Orange, California.

Wow, that’s pretty ugly in my opinion. You might get away with using one, but a wallful is too much. And knowing they are doormats … yuck.
