Get Wired: Lamps that Aren’t Afraid to Show What They Are Made Of

March 5, 2013 by

We’re finding that exposed wires are quite popular in a number of lamp designs. This is an interesting trend, and one that makes for great casual looks in lighting designs. The exposed wire makes a very interesting contrast to the natural wood that is so popular right now.

This example of a wire frame table lamp measures 41 cm x 93 cm. The white weave shade is included. This lamp has a timeless quality about it, which would suit a number of decorating styles.

The frauMaier Slim Sophie lamp is a floor lamp with a difference. The base measures 30 x 30cm & 176cm high. This lighting option is fashioned from a powder coated wire frame. The lamp shade is covered with chintz. The lamp is equipped with a dimmer and can be used with regular light bulbs of up to 100 watts.

Julien Bergignat’s Muselette lamp resembles a champagne cork and the wire cage that envelops it before opening. The lamp uses a touch switch and LED as its light source. This unique design is made from metal, cast-iron, rubber, and cork.

Do you like the look of the exposed wire in a lamp design? Is a more traditional look more to your taste? Some may argue that this look takes some getting used to, but depending on the design, this look can work very nicely in a casual setting.
