We were excited to discover that stripes will be all the rage in fashion this year. Since you want your home to be fashionable, too, we were thinking of ways that you could dress it up to reflect this trend.
A simple way to stripe up your home environment is to grab a can of paint and a brush or a roller. This example of stripes involves painting over a paneled wall, but you can get creative with some painter’s tape, a few cans of paint and some brushes.

Another option is to cover a wall with some colorful striped wallpaper. If you are going for bold pattern like this one, you may want to limit your choice to one wall only. A more muted pattern could be placed on on three walls, or even all four walls in the room.
If you are considering striping up your home but don’t want to commit to paint or wallpaper, consider bringing in this element through your window treatments and accessories. Retailers stock many fabric options for curtains and drapes, and you can go for a color combination that is as bold or as muted as you like.
Change your lamp shades if you don’t want to update your window treatments. This is an easy and inexpensive way to give your room a lift. Choose a lamp shade with a striped pattern to give the space a modern look. You can go for a bold black and white or a more muted feel with softer colors.
No matter what combination you choose, your home will be dressed up for 2013.
