Cover Me: Choose Decorative Ceiling Tiles for an Updated Look

October 22, 2012 by

If you need to repair damaged plaster in your ceiling or you want to cover up an old popcorn ceiling, consider choosing one of the beautiful decorative ceiling tiles available on the market.

You can choose from white or hand-painted colored tiles in several shades. The tiles are simply glued nailed into place over the existing ceiling and you have a new look with a minimum of mess and disruption in your home.

You can also install these tiles on walls to create a textured effect if you wish. (Be sure to check the manufacturer’s specifications to make sure the product you are considering is recommended for this purpose before buying.)

This example of a textured ceiling was used in a bathroom. Once installed, they create a finished look without the need for sanding or painting.

When painted styrofoam ceiling tiles are used in a room, they bring the height of the space down. Keep in mind that the color you choose will appear a bit darker once you see it in a larger space. This can be a good option when you are looking to update a larger space and you would like to make it appear a bit cozier.

You will also want to keep in mind that you will be living with the ceiling color you choose for some time, so be sure to pick something you will be happy with for the long term. You are probably more likely to change your wall and floor colors before you update the ceiling again.
