Aqua wellness resort – relaxing Nicaraguan tropical forest hideaway

May 19, 2011 by

A resort which is at one with nature, the location of Aqua is in a tropical dry forest near Gigante, Nicaragua, a short walking distance to the beach and the Caribbean coastline. The emphasis on this resort is relaxation, meditation and well being, with on-staff yoga instructors available every day, offering classes in a variety of yoga techniques.

The resorts’ architecture is a real back to basics style theme, built on a slightly raised hillside, hidden in dense vegetation. With sixteen villas made up of thirty-four rooms the interiors are constructed from a variety of certified and sustainable hardwoods. The design, location and layout ensures a comfortable natural airflow with screened windows and ceiling fans.

Proud of its eco-friendly standards, Aqua has won multiple awards from the Nicaraguan environmental agency, MARENA, and is cited as one of the country’s finest examples of sustainable construction. During a stay guests are treated to a architectural and ecological development tour.

A number of different exotic animals inhabit the surroundings – including an amazing array of butterflies, neon-colored lizards, a wide variety of bird species and monkeys. In fact, the monkeys are as much a part of the resort as the guests, and Aqua has become famous for these friendly residents.
