The Tolix chair (pictured above) is one of the hottest chairs in both kitchens and cafes alike. While their popularity has had a huge resurgence in the last couple of years, these chairs have actually been around for generations. In fact, the well known company, Tolix has proudly been making these stunning chairs in France for over 80 years.
According to Tolix’s website, all merit in the design of the chair goes to Xavier Pauchard (1880-1948). With a background in steel, Pauchard designed the rugged, industrial chairs that are still so popular today.
Tolix chairs are equally loved for their durability and aesthetics. Made out of steel, they are practically indestructible making them a great option for outdoor seating. They can also be stacked eight high if your space is tight.
The versatile design is a great compliment to both modern and traditional spaces. We are especially loving it paired with reclaimed wood tables and soft textiles.
Tolix chairs are still manufactured in France, but purchasing them in the states is easier than ever. You can access them now at, Pottery Barn, The Conran Shop, DWR, Sundance, and Atiquaire.
You can also find vintage models around the web, but be warned that there are a number of inauthentic copies as well. Authentic examples have ‘Tolix’ stamped into the back of the seat.

The best part, because they are so versatile, is choosing the color. i love the yellow. or how about a mix?
I agree! I love the idea of doing a mixture of colors.
