The Furniture That Has Fun!

June 26, 2009 by

When I first got a glimpse of this chair, it brought back memories of watching Alice in Wonderland, and more specifically, a chair that the Mad Hatter would probably have in his living room. The Proust Geometrica Armchair is for those who love colors, vibrancy and attitude. It’s for those who want to make a statement, and to have fun in their home decoration, deviating from the normalcy of life and furniture perspectives.

The Proust Geometrica Armchair was created by Alessandro Mendini in 1978 for the Palazzo dei Diamanti in Ferrara. The armchair comes in a burst of colors from orange, creamy yellow, teal, blush pink, aqua blue, navy blue and a hint of black to give the armchair its contrast and definition. The wood is also colored according to the colors of the sofa, where the colors on the cushion extend to the wood. This chair was inherited by Cappellini in 1993 and today Proust Geometrica is reupholstered in a new cotton fabric and hand-finished according to tradition, preserving the forms of the original armchair while refreshing them and breathing new life into the image and value of the original design.

Proust is well known for his support on modern living and is recognized as an icon of twentieth century design and one of the most renowned and essential reference points in the quest for form and aesthetic perfection. Bring this armchair to light up the coziest corner of your home, providing a blast of color to an otherwise mundane white washed wall or just mixing and matching your home furniture to bring out that pop culture and fun.

This armchair is ideal for a study that shouts out modernity in its theme. Even if you are living in a bachelor pad, purchasing this single armchair is a great compliment to your apartment as it tells your guest you have taste for the unique and a person that lives life to the fullest.
