Mood chair with embedded lighting

August 18, 2010 by

Not the first interactive lighting item we have featured, the Mood chair – like the LED stairs and the Disturb Me bed, lights up the room when it comes into contact with people and its surroundings.

Designed by Aether & Hemera, Mood is a translucent chair, fitted with LEDs, embedded micro-chips and sensors. The lighting is activated by what the sensors pick up around it – movement, colors and somebody sitting down or getting up, thus creating an ambient shifting glow.

Not a particularly comfortable looking chair, Mood does though have a neat minimalist design with a pure white casing. Just a novelty, or does interactive furniture such as the Mood chair really have a place in the modern living room? Let us know what you think.
