The Huggy Armchair is designed by Brit Leissler, a graduate from the Koeln International School of Design as well as the California College of Arts. Upon graduation, Leissler gained experience as a designer by working for several companies in Germany and Switzerland before coming to London in 2005 and earning a masters degree in product design from the Royal College of Art in 2007.
Her latest work for Lago since starting her own design business brought the Huggy Armchair, which is a multifunctional and practical item that not only can be used as an armchair but as a bed. The Huggy Armchair is a mattress that is wrapped in a wafer-like ice cream cone and is inserted into a small cylindrical base. The base acts as a grip that holds the mattress together and creating a wrap-around seat with soft arms. To make the bed, all you would need to do is unscrew the base and the mattress will automatically roll out for a goodnight’s sleep. Not only that, the base can be turned around to become a night table. The Huggy armchair is available in several different colors of mattresses as well as base.
The Huggy Armchair is good for people who want to create a statement and break away from the conventional armchairs that you would typically find in living rooms. Not only that, the designer created it with small spaces in mind where this Huggy armchair can be fitted and be useful in small apartments and bachelor pads. So for those of you with limited space in your apartments, or if you have too many friends crashing in over your place all the time, the Huggy armchair is an excellent choice for you. This isn’t an expensive investment and the turn over from armchair to bed can be done very easily.
