Manufactured by Vitra and designed by Verner Panton back in 1959, the Heart Cone Chair was way ahead of its time in terms of design. When it was first exhibited in a shop window in New York it caused havoc with traffic stopping so people could gawk at it, and subsequently the police ordered it to be removed.
The chair is 35″ high, 40.5″ wide and 24.5″ deep. Fixed to a brushed stainless steel crossed base, it has a glass-fibre reinforced shell with light upholstery and seat cushion. The tonus wool fabric is available in various colors.
More novel than a box of chocolates or bouquet of flowers, why not buy your loved one a Heart-shaped chair for Valentine’s day?
“Most people spend their lives living in dreary, beige conformity, mortally afraid of using colors. The main purpose of my work is to provoke people into using their imagination and make their surroundings more exciting.”
-Verner Panton
