Retro abstract cabinet – Granny takes a trip

June 15, 2011 by

This wonderful abstract free-standing dresser with cabinet is named after a boutique on Kings Road, Chelsea, owned and run by Nigel Waymouth and Sheila Cohen in the 1960′s. It was famous for being the first psychedelic boutique in ‘Swinging London’ in the 60s.

The design certainly has that trippy look about it. The disorganised colours and drawn lines look like something out of a badly drawn early cartoon. Truly one for the surrealists this piece of bold, retro furniture.

Granny takes a trip is designed by Love Anna James. Anna is from south east London, where she has her own studio. She transforms twentieth century furniture into fantastic modern art.
