Centered door knobs, or pull knobs, are finally making their way to the United States after decorating doors across Europe for quite some time. They aren’t usually functional doorknobs as they’re so far from the latch.
Instead, you open the door while your key is in the lock and use the stationary knob to pull the door closed. Centered door knobs can add a beautiful, unexpected symmetry to your front door.
Martha Stewart has a DIY version to consider for interior doors, but if you’re interested in a centered door pull for your front door, you’ll need additional equipment for the lock.
Check with retailers like E.R. Butler & Co. or World of Brass for the knobs. Though there are some U.S. stores that carry the necessary items for a centered door pull like these, don’t forget the option of shopping with a European retailer where they may have a wider selection.
Will this be a fleeting trend or will it stick?
