Beat the Summer Heat with Ceiling Fans

August 21, 2012 by

Has it been hot enough for you? With record-breaking temperatures in many parts of the United States and Canada this summer, staying cool has been a challenge for many of us. When you add in trying to stay cool without breaking the bank, it can seem like a daunting task.

Ceiling fans are an environmentally-friendly alternative to an air conditioner, and the Haiku model from Big Ass Fans (yes, you read that right) is designed more like an airfoil than a standard fan.

The company offers models made from natural bamboo and a matrix composite, which is available in a black or white finish. This fan used only 2-30W of power, which far exceeds the Energy Star rating requirements 65W.

The Modern Fan Company offers a thoroughly modern take on ceiling fans with its Altus design. This model is offered in a brushed aluminum and gloss white design and customers can also add a light to the unit if they wish.

Modern Fan’s Stella model is available in maple, mahogany, and black. Like all ceiling fans, it uses very little electricity to operate, but you can increase its energy efficiency by choosing a fluorescent or halogen light bulb instead of an incandescent one.

These ceiling fans offer a stylish alternative to air conditioning which will help keep you cool, and save you some coin as well. All these benefits sound like a win-win situation in the fight to keep the heat at bay this summer.
