Salt and pepper go together like peanut butter and jelly, like Lucy and Desi, like sun and sky. So it makes sense that some of the more whimsical interpretations of salt and pepper shakers out there would play up the friendly, even symbiotic nature of the pair.
The pair above, found at Perpetual Kid, takes the “two peas in a pod” motif literally with its pea pod illustration, while the duo below pits angel against devil, from Koziol:
Part yin-yang symbol, part embrace, the “Hug” set from Greengrass Design features a black pepper shaker locked in a bear hug with a white salt shaker. Too cute.
And last but not least, this pair of doves is as sweet as… well, a pair of doves. Simultaneously adorable and sophisticated — a tough combination to pull off for something as basic as salt and pepper shakers, right? — the duet runs $25 from Chiasso.
