Summer is here and what better way to enjoy the season than adding seasonal decor and elements to your kitchen? Your kitchen is the heart of your home and most of us spend more time in the kitchen than any other room. Summer additions in your kitchen can range from lightening up your color palette to making cooking easier and more enjoyable with decluttering tips.

Here are a few tips to transform your kitchen this season and welcome in the lazy days of summer.

  • Create a summertime theme: During the summer months the kids are out of school, neighbors drop by and easy cooking is a must! Create a summertime theme in your kitchen to complement the casual lifestyle that summer demands. Change out kitchen linen area rugs, kitchen towels, window treatments and colorful counter decorations to a summer theme. Choose lively colors and decorate with fresh fruit, colorful candy, and colorful pasta in pretty apothecary jars for display.

  • Keep your kitchen hassle-free: Have on hand simple and easy solutions for dining outdoors, kids wanting snacks, and entertaining without the fuss of worrisome planning details. Colorful plastic dishware and plastic cutlery are great to have on hand for your summertime kitchen. Bright yellow, green, turquoise and orange are perfect colors to infuse throughout the kitchen. Add these colors in your cookware, hanging pots and pans and in floral arrangements to tie the entire look together. Get rid of small kitchen counter appliances that are taking up space and put them in a pantry until needed. The less clutter the more your summertime additions will take center stage.

Cute idea — I have framed pictures on the wall that my children painted. They make me new ones for each season, so I can update the decor! I love them since they are made by my kids, and they reflect the seasons!
