Cool Kitchen Gadgets for Christmas 2012

September 26, 2012 by

It can be challenging to find just the right gift for everyone on your Christmas list, and it’s a good idea to start making a list of ideas early.

The foodie who wishes it were easier to get an accurate measurement for wet and dry ingredients will find the Talking Measuring Cup intriguing. This product announces the volume you have added to the container, which eliminates the guesswork when cooking.

A clear, female voice announces how much you have placed in the cup, and you can place multiple ingredients in it if you wish. The cup is able to compensate for the different densities of flour, sugar, milk and oil in a single combination if necessary.

The $59.95 measuring cup also allows you to set whether you would like to have the reading stated in volume (ml or cups) or weight (grams or ounces).

If the person on your holiday list likes homemade soup but doesn’t look forward to the prep work involved, consider the Personal Soup Chef. This device chops the vegetables and simmers broth to make a pot of soup with “minimal human intervention.”

The $199.95 device includes chopping blades to slice or puree the vegetables, depending on the type of soup being prepared, so it can be used for a hearty minestrone or a cream soup. It can make up to 1 1/2 quarts at a time and has a 30-minute timer. It can also be used for sauces, smoothies, and the like. The Personal Soup Chef measures 18″ H x 9″ W x 7″ D. (13 lbs.)

Oh great, now my appliances are going to be telling me I’m eating too much. “Do you really need that much oil?”
