With most kitchen designs there is a tendency to blend the appliances in with the rest of the kitchen style. Occasionaly, though, we can use the appliances as the main stand-out feature of the room. One way of achieving this is by having a vibrant refrigerator colour to brighten up the kitchen.

Founded in 2001 by Orion Creamer and his uncle, Thom Vernon, Big Chill, from Boulder, Colorado, offer refrigerators in a number of stunning colours, all boasting a retro 1950s American diner style.

Unimpressed by trends of hiding refridgerators behind cabinetry, Thom and Orion wanted to bring the fridge out into the spotlight. They were inspired by mid-century refrigerator styles, but found them to be too small and a real chore to defrost.

With that in mind, they set out to create a refrigerator that would be vintage in style, but with the functionality of a modern fridge, including an optional icemaker and self-defrost.

Retro kitchen styles can be particularly difficult to create, but with a Big Chill refrigerator you’re sure to add a touch of 1950′s vintage to your kitchen design.
