The Setsu & Shinobu Ito Shinto Table is the exact description of the indo-western, fusion, east meets west furniture that fits the bill. The table is not your ordinary oritenal table with traditional designs. Instead it infuses modern Asia with the Modern Western concept, representing the Yin and the Yang through the combination of materials.
The Table is an extensible dining table composed of jointed bases made of 15 mm thick curved glass, transparent or extra light, or made of lacquered steel. The top and jointed extensions are made in tempered glass, transparent or extra light, and 12 mm thick. The extension of the table is made possible by the central aluminum bar supporting the thick glass.
Costumers have the option of purchasing this table in the combinations of transparent glass or in extra light glass; central aluminum bar, polished or matt black finish or in matt black finish steel; top in glass, transparent or extra light; central aluminum bar and matt black finish. Another option is the base in matt black finish steel, smoked glass top; central aluminum bar and finally matt black finish.
The designers for this unique and modern table are Setsu and Shinobu. Setsu is a designer and architect who graduated from Tsukuba University and moved to Milan to work for Studio Alchimia where he collaborated with Angelo Mangiarotti. Since partnering with Shinobu in 1995, he has been working at an international range and has won a series of awards such as ‘The Young & Design Award’ in Italy and the ‘ADI Design Index, 2001’ in Italy. Shinobu is a designer from the Tama Art University in Tokyo who worked with MNCs such as CBS Sony and other international companies in Milan and Tokyo. Some of her design pieces have been featured under the permanent collection in the Triennale, Milan as well as selected as the main visual for the Melbourne Cup in 2007. She has numerous awards under her belt such as the ‘The Toyoma Product Design Award 2001’ and the ‘ADI Design Index 2001’.
