Neighborhood Spy: The Sum of Its Parts

September 18, 2012 by

Wisteria Shop Furniture from One Kings Lane

If a whole is greater than the sum of its parts, the same can be said of a home and the furniture within it. Whether it’s as matchy-matchy as can be or an eclectic mix of great finds from all eras and regions of the world, it all comes together to uniquely express the tastes of the person who lives within its walls.

So, today’s roundup is about the wide and wonderful range of individual pieces of furniture out there, just waiting for us to make them ours. First up, the well-traveled aesthetes of One Kings Lane take us on a tour of the world in classic fashion with its Wisteria shop, featuring timeless pieces like the ones shown above.

Next, Furniture Fashion steps into the dark side with its roundup of ten jet black chairs, including this bold, high-backed number from Gijs Papavoine:

Over on the west coast, SFGirlByBay gives us a lesson in softening the edges of a square-filled room and warming up an expanse of cool white tile:

Elsewhere on the web, the recently-launched Project Decor is growing by leaps and bounds, expanding its offerings to connect us with more and more great finds as it gains traction in its mission to level the playing field for design enthusiasts everywhere…

…and last but not least, Apartment Therapy takes a long, lingering look at a classic piece we’ve all seen time and time again but may not have known its backstory: the Tollix chair.

Happy hunting!
