Having spent time with MCs, DJs, Graffiti artists and other members of the Hip Hop community, designer Vanessa Chew set out to design a range of furniture and accessories with and expressive and energetic style reminiscent to Hip Hop itself.
There are four items:
A coffee table capturing the tension of the body, arms and legs in a baby freeze. (B-boying)
A plate capturing the energy of the record rotation and pull back of a scratch. (DJing)
A cup inspired by the forward giving energy of an MC on stage and the angle with which the mic is held. (MCing)
A shelf inspired by the energy of the air as the paint is sprayed then dissipates. (Writing Graffiti)
Chew’s dynamic designs have a free-flowing style, pieces caught in motion, movement, and energy of the elements, and a truly urban modern style.
