Has your desk or dresser gotten a bit tired looking over the years? These well-used pieces of furniture are part of our daily lives, and they certainly bear the brunt of this constant use.
If you want to give them an updated look but buying new stuff is not in your budget, consider replacing the knobs and pulls for a quick and stylish way to give them a new look.
Chrome and stainless steel are very popular choices in cabinet hardware. You will also find interesting options in brushed or satin nickel finishes.
Rubbed bronze, ceramic, acrylic and plastic knobs are readily available at a hardware store or online.

Plan to spend some time in the store if you visit a brick and mortar location looking for furniture hardware. Most large home renovation stores have an extensive selection of knobs and drawer pulls.
You will want to make sure the items you are choosing will coordinate with each other if they will be used on the same piece of furniture.
If you are shopping for drawer pulls, take an old one with you to make sure the ones you are considering will fit the existing holes in your furniture. You may find a new one that you love, but if the hardware in the package won’t fit through your drawer, you won’t be able to use it right away. Proper planning means you can complete the new look right away.

I recently updated a cabinet by giving it a little Krylon spray paint and adding a new knob in oil rubbed bronze. The cabinet looks totally different now!
New knobs are just about the easiest reno tip of all! I recently did this too; didn’t even change the cabinet doors, just new knobs and it feels fresher already.
