Boys & girls Lego boardroom table

September 26, 2010 by

The Boys & Girls Lego table by abgc Architects is a unique and colorful boardroom table with a monolithic slab made up of random, instantly recognizable lego bricks.

The total number of Lego bricks is 22,742, clicked together with traditional lego building techniques (ie: no glue used). In the center is a 136mm grommet, which sits on a polished stainless steel square hollow section structure. The table is topped with a 10mm thick sheet of toughened safety glass manufactured by Action Glass.

Lego furniture has become a popular concept. Inspired by nostalgic memories and retro designs, product designers are incorporating ideas which tap into the familiar whilst bringing something innovative and original to the design.

Over 8000 images were taken by artist Cormac Browne, using tripods, clamps and magic arms from the wizards sleeve of camera equipment. The result is a wonderful timelapse video of the building of the table from start to finish.
