Baroque style zebra skin chest of drawers

October 15, 2010 by

Exotic and paradoxical, the Bertha chest of drawers by Michel Haillard are a unique baroque style, covered in zebra skin parchment, complete with tail and horns.

It could be said that Bertha, as well as being baroque in style, is very much a gothic piece. The sculpted horns and intricate carvings are undoubtedly gothic in appearance. The parchment is stitched and studded on to the base, with the tail being the most distinguished feature. It seems to make the furniture more life-like, as though an actual zebra has been stuffed into the shape of a chest of drawers.

Bertha would look great in a modern gothic interior or an African themed bedroom. Like all of Haillard’s furniture designs, it has an exotic and baroque character which is in a genre all of its own.
