Yet, if the home has a grand view outside the windows, one may want to peel back the walls and admire the views from the comfort of the bathtub. That’s the beauty of this modern apartment bathroom from Five Franklin Place – the curved wall can slide to open and close the bathroom from the rest of the apartment.

The design is by Ben van Berkel of UNStudio, and this is the first American building by the acclaimed Dutch architect. It is in the TriBeCa district of Lower Manhattan and has sweeping views of the city around it.

The bathroom is connected to the master bedroom by the sliding, curved wall. With the wall open, the resident has a view of the Manhattan skyline, perfect for relaxing in the bath whilst viewing the sun setting over New York.

Designed by Stefan Heiliger, this chair is very similar to the iconic question mark chair by Tonon. It’s almost like a flatter, wider version of the same chair.

Built with an asymmetric cross base in polished chrome steel with elastic belts, the chair is covered with injected flame retardant polyurethane foam.

Like all of Tonon’s upholstered chairs, One for Two comes in a wide array of colorful shades to choose from. They’re perfect for a modern waiting room, and will strike a chord with visitors because of their comfort and unique look.

Like her Accordion kitchen table, this futuristic fridge design goes beyond what we are familiar with traditional kitchen appliances.

Designed for Nord, the fridge has two darkened triangular perspex windows which light up when the fridge is turned on. The shelving inside is a lime green which, along with the white, gives a nice soothing effect. The shelves also rotate, so there’s no reaching over foods to access items from the back, and the height is easily adjustable without having to remove the items off it. To the left the shelving allows for bottles to be stacked on top of each other, creating a wine cellar effect.

Maybe someday our homes of the future will all have revolutionary fridges such as this, and incorporate more colors to brighten up the white of traditional fridges.

The color, layout and overall design mimicks the New York skyline at night.

The main frame of the sofa is manufactured from plywood and beech wood, equipped with belts, and the padding is made from polyurethane foam and polyester wadding. The covers are made from a special fabric, processed to resemble a tapestry, and complicated weaving technique is used to produce 14,000 warp and weft stitches, which generate high definition images.

With a large rounded back to represent the full moon behind skyscrapers, this dark and fascinating sofa would be a good addition to a modern gothic interior design.
