The results of a blush-worthy British survey are in, and people who paint their bedrooms purple report getting busiest in the boudoir. Retailer Littlewoods surveyed people about their sex lives, and found that people who surrounded themselves with purple furniture or bedding had an average of 3.49 “intimate encounters” per week.

Red is the second most sexy color for a bedroom, according to the survey. It immediately brings to mind love and passion, after all. People who adorned their boudoir in this tone reported having 3.18 encounters per week.

Pink was another popular color for romantic bedrooms, with survey respondents reporting that they got that loving feeling about 3.04 times per week. Black bedrooms were also popular, triggering romantic get-togethers 2.99 times per week.
If you want to give you love life a boost, you will want to stay away from green and beige walls, since survey respondents reported romance only 1.89 and 1.98 times per week respectively.
The type of fabric on the bed seems to make a difference when it comes to romance as well. Not surprisingly, silk sheets were most popular, with an average of 4.25 romantic encounters each week. (Duvets were deemed the least sexy, which is probably not surprising.)

Except there’s truth to it. Colors matter. Walking into a blue room will make you feel differently than walking into a yellow room versus walking into a red room. Walking into a pink room will make you feel differently than walking into a gray or white room. And then there’s black.
