Once upon a dream – a cure for insomnia

April 29, 2010 by

By French designer, Matthieu Lehanneur, the Once Upon a Dream bed is a sleeping capsule which promises to help alleviate insomnia, a common affliction which affects many people in the world.

The capsule encloses the person within its automatically-closing curtains, then the temperature gradually drops and the lighting changes to soothe the atmosphere. External noises are blocked out with gentle, calming white noise to ensure a sound night’s sleep.

The bed is based on the work of Dr Alain Nicolas, a sleep specialist from Lyon, France, and promises to relax even the most ardent sufferers of insomnia.

The bed was recently unveiled at Milan design week and, after completing a round the world tour, The Once Upon a Dream bed will finally come to rest at the Hôtel du Marc in Reims.
