Keeping Cool, Calm & Collected with DwellStudio

One might think that the founder of a design house as successful as DwellStudio, author of Undecorate and mother of two might be a harried, fantastic mess with an air of crazy, frenetic energy permeating her designs. Not so in the case of Christiane Lemieux.

The designs released under her company are anything but frazzled; on the contrary, they’re a carefully controlled blend of geometry and free-flowing illustration; a bastion of calm competence with strong legs for such a young company.

The Parsons School of Design graduate’s brand was first popular among the design-minded set, which makes sense; interior designers fall in love with a brand, use it in their clients’ homes, clients’ guests ask, “Where’d you get that duvet?” and voila! A word-of-mouth campaign is born.

That’s precisely how DwellStudio’s rise to prominence took place: through good, old-fashioned first-person recommendations.

While DwellStudio’s entire line is rather well-respected throughout the home decor industry, we’re pausing today to peruse its soft lines, particularly in the bedroom. When the desired effect of a bedroom’s vibe is calm, considerate and decidedly classic, Lemieux’s brand hits the mark.

And it’s a good thing, too, since we’re wearing ourselves out just thinking about all the accomplishments she’s managed in her relatively short career… makes sense that her cadre of designers would offer us something soft to fall into.
