A touch of purple – modern bedroom designs

So what’s your favorite color? And what does that color say about you?

Do you like hot colors, such as red, yellow, or orange? If so, maybe you have a very warm temperament and this is reflected in your choice of hues. On the other hand, perhaps you prefer cool, laid-back colors such as pale blue, turquoise, light green, mauve, or aqua. This probably mirrors your easygoing, calm personality. Or perhaps you are more into dreamy colors such as beige, peach, or pink.

Do you tend to dress in these colors as well, or do you express your passion for your favorite colors in the way that you decorate your home?

The best place for you to express your passion for anything is your bedroom, as this is the most private and inner part of your home. In your bedroom, you can choose the colors and hues of your choice without having to worry about what anyone else (apart from your partner or roommate, of course!) thinks.

So if you have a passion for purple, you can indulge away! Purple curtains, bedding, area rugs, and even walls can express your favorite color, and no one can criticize you for what they would consider to be your rather eccentric choice. Of course, you may find that overdoing it can lead to a surfeit of your favorite color very quickly and you will find yourself regretting your choice. Love can quickly turn to loathing and you will be left with all of these accessories in what is no longer your favorite color.

Therefore, if you do have a favorite color, you are best advised to temper this color with others. Create contrasts and shades, and your favorite color will then remain the love of your life.

For example, if you really are so fond of the color purple, you may wish to do the following:
Paint the walls white or cream.
Put up purple curtains.
Use mauve bedding, or maybe a mixture of mauve and purple. (Ok, purple purists will say that mauve is not really purple, but the contrast looks great!)
You could put down purple carpet and contrast with a white natural flokati rug. Alternatively, you could go for a white carpet with a purple oval rug next to your bed. Again – it’s all in the contrast.
Use purple lampshades or light bulbs for colorful lighting.
Paint the door purple.

If you look at this list closely, you will see that you are able to indulge your purple passion very well, but you are not overdoing it. In this way, you can get the best of all worlds without getting sick of your favorite color.

As every artist knows, the trick of producing great art is being able to combine, compare, and contrast. The differences in shades and the nuances they produce make all the difference between a hideous mess and a grand masterpiece.

So when it comes to your favorite color, get the balance right, and you will have the bedroom of your dreams. And no one out there will be able to disapprove.
