Take one part Georgia O’Keefe painting, one part modern architecture and blend them together with the intention of washing your hands when you’re through. Et voila: behold the freestanding Kalla sink from Mastella Design, along with its countertop counterpart, the Kallashort. These sinewy white washbasins snake upwards, unfurling into delicate, lily-inspired bowls not dissimilar to the petals of a flower opening up to the sun.
Antionio Mastella founded Mastella Design in 1984 and has been doing unsurprisingly well ever since. The Italian product designer has made a living on visually striking, urbane collections over the past three decades, most recently introducing the Kalla and Kallashort in 2010, which instantly shot to popularity across Europe and show no signs of fading away from the fanfare.
