Modern apartment bathroom with movable curved wall

September 2, 2010 by

More often than not we want the bathroom to be a totally private place. Yet, if the home has a grand view outside the windows, one may want to peel back the walls and admire the views from the comfort of the bathtub. That’s the beauty of this modern apartment bathroom from Five Franklin Place – the curved wall can slide to open and close the bathroom from the rest of the apartment.

The design is by Ben van Berkel of UNStudio, and this is the first American building by the acclaimed Dutch architect. It is in the TriBeCa district of Lower Manhattan and has sweeping views of the city around it.

The bathroom is connected to the master bedroom by the sliding, curved wall. With the wall open, the resident has a view of the Manhattan skyline, perfect for relaxing in the bath whilst viewing the sun setting over New York.
