Such Great Heights: Inspiring Ceilings

In essence, the ceiling is the crown of a room. While it may be the last thing we notice about any given space — assuming we ever notice it at all — few of us actually give our ceiling decor any thought, simply painting it white and forgetting about it.

But for those of us who have a tendency to pay painstaking attention to detail, as well as those of us who realize the important role a ceiling can play in setting the color temperature and tone of a space, it actually takes on a rather prominent role.

From tonal patterns to bright murals, a wash of color on a ceiling can actually warm up or cool down the look of a room, while boxed ceilings, sectioned beams, exposed wood and contrasting paint colors can all add the sort of grandeur and detail that make a room truly memorable.

In fact, the more we think about it, we come closer to the conclusion that the more things there are to look up at in life, the better. We spend so much time with our faces buried in our phones and laptops that looking skyward, even when indoors, provides more than just a neck stretch; it provides perspective.

  1. I’m going to have to admit I’ve never really given that much thought to my ceilings before. But these are amazing!
