In Search of the Perfect Nook

To snag a few hours and steal away from the world to curl up with a good book and cup of tea is, for many, a luxury rarely afforded by the ravages of busy schedules, never-ending tweets and the constant buzz of the nearest smartphone.

But since logging off and flying under the radar is undoubtedly good for the soul, we’ve rounded up some inspiration points for creating the coziest of nooks.

The perfect space for a little getaway needn’t be enormous; in fact, the smaller the spot, the greater the comfort where feeling at peace with simplicity is concerned.

From brilliant window seats and converted attics to conceptual spaces like the one created below in an art installation made entirely of books at the hand of artist Aaron T. Stephan, these literary cocoons can provide some of the greatest therapy of all: solace, silence and an escape into our imaginations.

  1. Love the curved window seat. We recently had a window seat installed in our home, and it has become a favored spot in the house!
