Whether you want to give a room a fall vibe year-round with wall color and rich leather furniture and woods, or you’d prefer to keep the wall color neutral and rotate your accessories with the season or holiday, there are several ways to spice up your home to celebrate the arrival of fall and then continue on into winter.
If you have a rustic dining table, decorating for autumn will be that much easier. Adding silver pumpkins, fall foliage, and candles in yellow, burnt orange, or even apple red or sage green can carry you all the way through the end of the year.
Walls painted in shades of rust, mustard, pumpkin, or other warm tones can be played up through matching throws on the furniture, accent pillows, putting down a new rug in richer tones, or switching an ivory or white window treatment to chocolate brown.
Smooth brown leather and rugged wood furniture work as a base or an accent for a fall-inspired room.
Seasonal flowers in glowing golden vases catch the autumn light and bring an immediate fall-like feel to the room. Using white pumpkins among candles and bittersweet creates an elegant ambiance for a dinner party.
Add to current fall décor or introduce it to your home around Halloween with a mix of jack-o-lanterns, black cats, vintage-inspired paper lanterns, and streamers.
Subtle changes can transition a room from summer to fall, especially if there are warm woods, chocolate leather, or warm-toned paint already in place.
Taking inspiration from outside in the form of plants and pumpkins, then adding in the warm glow of candlelight can transform even a neutral room to one that suggests the arrival of a new season.
