When fall rolls around, few things are as whimsical, childlike and creatively fulfilling as indulging in an afternoon or evening of papercraft.
An excuse to get together with the kiddos or the object of our affection for a little drawing, dreaming and cut-and-paste (the old-fashioned kind that happens without a ‘control’ key), coming up with seasonal home accents over hot mugs of cider, coffee or tea can be an idyllic way to catch up with one another while sprucing up a space for the season ahead.
We use the term ‘paper’ loosely, by the way; felt scraps (above), cloth and cardboard can act as a perfect stand-ins, depending on the project; the only limits to projects like these lie in the imagination itself.
Whether you’re welcoming fall with felt, spinning a spiderweb with spring, or simply having fun with paper stars heralding the holidays, a couple of hours’ worth of work doesn’t have to feel like work at all… especially when family fun (or savory “me” time) is the name of the game.
