Designed specifically for the 15 degree off white house – an open plan family home in Holland Park, London – this unusual contemporary staircase appears as though it has been dropped out of the ceiling, in much the same way as a passenger aircraft staircase looks.
The staircase was created by Paul McAneary Architects as part of the overall design. The balance of dark walnut flooring, white laminate edging and glass balustrades define and reflect the staircase as it descends down into the kitchen and living area.
Similar to floating staircase designs, the focus on minimalism ensures the connection between upstairs and downstairs is simple and enhances the space around the staircase.
