When you first look at it, your first impressions would be that the thing on the wall is a piece of contemporary art made by an ambitious artist. The Marco Zito Flap Lamps looks like any other contemporary piece of art with its irregular geometric lines but it really is a lamp that decorates the walls in interplay of light and shade.
The light source of the lamp comes from the Flap’s two overlaid metal surfaces which, thanks to a slight bend and the irregular overlay, provide a strong personality to a lamp of striking simplicity. These pieces create a new visual perception when lit as though there appears to be four surfaces. This is due to the effect the backlit shadows create on the different surfaces of the lamp and how it is artistically projected onto the wall.
The Flap Lamp is created by Marco Zito for Foscarini. Marco is and Italian designer and a graduate under Vittorio Gregotti at the IUAV in 1994. Since 1996, he has been teaching at the faculty of Design and Arts of IUAV Venice, and has garnered several industry related design awards namely the Design Index ADI in 2004, and the Batimat 1005 design innovation trophy. His “New Italian design” exhibition had become a permanent design collection at Triennale di Milano. Marco has a studio in Venice that specializes in product design, interior design and architecture.
The Flap is a futuristic lamp that serves as an ideal element for wall compositions, giving your wall a subtle contrast and an artistic feeling to the whole house. It is recommended for this lamp to be used in multiples as it can create a unique and unusual light sculpture that is suitable for both residential homes, commercial buildings and contract environments. If you are looking for something that spells unique and interesting, then these lamps are just the kind you need. Customers can purchase these lamps in three different sizes with each one having a characterized specialty that is shown through the different proportions that make every variation of the Flap Lamp unique.
