Like something you’d expect to see in a James Bond villain’s house, the Guns lamp collection is the creation of renowned furniture and home furnishings designer, Philippe Starck.
Copying the designs of three of the world’s most popular firearms, the Kalashnikov, Beretta and M16, Starck wants us to contemplate the collusion between money and war. The gold base represents money, while the black lampshade looms over, depicting death and the great loss of war.
Though I’m sure most can appreciate they’re sleek, slimline design and luxurious finish, because of the images of violence that these guns conjure up, these table and floor lamps will not be most people’s ideal home accessory.
Made from die cast aluminium with injection moulded polymer overprint, the gun lamps are available in Matte black plasticized paper diffuser, with silk screen gold printing inside, or chrome silver with white paper shade and grey inside. And all bare the subtle S+arck signature.

I can just see these lined up in some evil dictator’s living room. Can’t help but admire the design though. Are these available to buy?
