There are numerous kinds of bookworms: voracious readers who collect thousands of paperbacks several at a time, stacking them up to the ceiling; everyday folks who pick up whatever might interest them and display their tomes on a modest shelf; literary purists who collect first-run books no matter the cost; and everything in between.
For those who have their own personal canon of favorites worth displaying (and a penchant for keeping them within arm’s reach to remind them to read said favorites over and over again), an Etsy shop called OldandCold has an artful idea: a Wenge hanging bookshelf.
The handmade wooden sets come from Copenhagen and are made in small runs, much like some of the more classic works that might be hung from their strings.
The racks, too, are more practical than they appear: the hanging mechanism itself doubles as a bookmark when the pages aren’t in use, and the avid readers behind OldandCold stand by the rack’s gentle handling of the books that dangle from its core; artisans Agusta and Gustav, the minds behind OldandCold, attest that their personal book collection hasn’t been damaged in the slightest by hanging their favorite reads.
The hanging racks are available via Etsy in beige, dark red and brown. They feature 12 hooks apiece and run $210 per set.
