Choosing the Right Vacuum Cleaner

December 17, 2011 by

When shopping for a vacuum cleaner, you may be surprised at the many different styles and prices that are offered. The vast selection may leave you feeling stumped. How do you choose when there are so many options available?

Purchasing a vacuum cleaner does not have to be difficult, you just have to plan ahead and decide what you can buy that will fit both your budget and your lifestyle.

Before buying a vacuum, you’ll want to set a specific budget. Do not assume that the most expensive vacuum cleaner is the best value. Do some research. Often, you can find a reasonably priced vacuum cleaner that will clean as well as, or better than, the more expensive model. Once you’ve established an amount you want to spend, you can begin looking at the different types of vacuum cleaners in that price range to determine what will best meet your cleaning needs.

One of the most important things to consider when choosing a vacuum cleaner is the filtration system. If you have allergies, children, or pets, you may want to spend a little more and get a cleaner that will remove the most pollen, dust, and dirt from your home. On the other hand, if you have little traffic in your home, you may decide to purchase a less expensive model that will do an adequate job of removing dirt and dust.

You will also need to determine whether you prefer an upright vacuum or a canister vacuum. An upright vacuum is simpler to maneuver, but you are limited to cleaning mainly the floors. They also tend to work better on floors with carpeting. With a canister vacuum, you can easily clean furniture, curtains, mattresses, bare floors, and much more. However, they can be difficult to move around your home, and they are usually more expensive than an upright.

When purchasing a vacuum cleaner, you may underestimate the importance of a quality product. While you may be tempted to puchase the least expensive cleaner, it might not be the best value. Instead, carefully research your options and buy a quality vacuum cleaner that will last longer and eliminate the most dirt and dust from your home.
